The City of Sandpoint offers seasonal moorage at both the City Beach Marina and the Windbag Marina. Current rates will be available annually after October 1. We have three categories for rates.  1) Resident - those who reside inside Sandpoint City limits 6+ months of the year qualify for the City resident rate. 2) County - those who reside out side Sandpoint city limits but inside Bonner County. 3) Non-Resident - those residing outside Bonner County limits. Local Invasive Species Fee

The City assesses a Local Invasive Species Fee (LIS) in addition to seasonal moorage rates, per marina customer, per season. All money collected for (LIS) management will go toward non chemical removal of invasive species (milfoil and flowering rush) within city limits; primarily focusing on City Beach, Municipal Marina's, and Sand Creek.

The City of Sandpoint also offers visitor moorage rentals. Go directly to our reservation site to check availability and book your reservation. See Links below

Slip Renewal For Current Customers

Customers in good standing, who currently lease a slip in any calendar year, wishing to renew their current slip or move to a slip of equal or lesser size, will have the first opportunity to renew their existing slip/s for the following season.

Between Jan 12 and 16, 2026, returning customers will receive an email from Sandpoint Parks and Rec, prompting them to renew their slip using our reservation software online. To complete the process customers will need to update their account information if there have been changes in the last year and provide information from your boat registration and liability insurance information. Have your registration and insurance declaration pages handy during the renewal process. Online payment, in full, will be due during the renewal process. All renewal/payments must be completed by March 1.

If returning customers do not wish to renew/pay online or want assistance, please email Kami at Parks and Rec to set up an appointment to renew and pay in person at the James E. Russell Sports Center (2016 Pine St. Sandpoint). Appointments are avaialble M_R 8-3pm. Use email: recreation [at] sandpointidaho.gov (recreation[at]sandpointidaho[dot]gov) and  Subject Line: Moorage Renewal Appointment

*NEW in 2026. Payments can only be made by credit card or check. Make checks out to City or Sandpoint.

Once payment is made, and water depth in the slip can accommodate the designated boat, the customer can occupy the slip through the end of the season, water level permitting, no later than Oct 15th.

New Customers Seeking Moorage With The City Of Sandpoint

The City of Sandpoint manages two municipal marinas: the Windbag Marina and the City Beach Marina. The Windbag Marina is located on Dock St in Sandpoint. Slip lengths offered are: 20', 24',  and 30's.  The City Beach Marina is located at the south end of the City Beach parking lot. Slip lengths offered are 20’s, 30’s and 35’s. The best slip accessibility is between July 1 and mid-September, due to raising and lower of Lake Pend Oreille. Deeper slips may have access as early as Memorial Day Weekend to Oct 15th. New applicants will be entered into a lottery drawing for slips.

To moor with the City of Sandpoint the following is required:

1) Seasonal Moorage Application must be submitted. Applications are available between January 13th and Feb 28th, 2026. Visit the Parks & Rec Forms/Application page to complete an application for the current calendar year.

2) All Applicants/Customers must maintain Liability Insurance for the length of the entire season to maintain account in good standing. Minimum coverage required is $300,000 Combined Single limit or the similar Split Limit of 100/300/100.

3) Current Boat Registration. *No boats registered under a business name. Must own a boat to apply.

4) No commercial use of the slip is allowed.

5) Applicant/Customer must own the boat for which moorage is applied.  The name on the application must also be the name on the Boat Registration. No subleasing the slip.

Once a seasonal moorage application is submitted, Parks and Rec staff will review your information and if approved, staff will create a Vermont Systems WebTrac account for you if you don't already have one. Approved applicants will be entered into a lottery drawing for all applicable slip sizes in their preference area. The date for the lottery drawing is TBA but usually before the end of March. Lottery winners will be notified the same day and fees will be due, in full, within 5 business days of notification.

All new applicants will receive an email notifying them of the timeline for the lotter drawing. Check your email once a week in March and you won't miss anything.

After staff has confirmed allocation of slips to the lottery winners , and IF slips remain, preference areas will no longer apply, and a second lottery drawing will be conducted. All boat types (power or sail) will be eligible for slips in either preference area.

Pro Tip: Tracking lake levels can help boaters determine when their slip has adequate depth to put their boat in, or when they need to pull it out for the season.
